Stopping the “Secret Meetings”

🚨 𝗧𝗿𝘂𝗰𝗸 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘆 – 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀” 🚨 Billy Rosener says he usually brings Truck Time updates in good spirits, sharing ideas, vision, and positive plans for Helena’s future. But this time, he’s speaking as a frustrated citizen.

Recently, Billy learned that an open public pre-bid conference meeting was to be held this past Tuesday at 10:00 AM to receive bids for turfing the fields at the Sports Complex. While Billy supports turfing the fields if the city can afford it, what troubles him is how the meeting was handled.

The first time the public heard about pausing the Sports Complex project was during a council meeting, an idea Billy himself had been discussing for months as a way to reallocate funds.

Residents were optimistic that this pause would mean more opportunities for public input. Instead, this pre-bid conference meeting notice was buried in the classifieds of the Shelby County Reporter on July 20, July 27, August 3, and August 10. It was never posted on the city’s website or shared in a social media update.

Billy believes this was a missed opportunity for the city to engage with residents:

If elected Mayor, Billy says public meetings will never be hidden in obscure places or shared at the last minute.

 ✅ They will be posted on the city’s website.

 ✅ They will be included in official news blasts.

 ✅ Residents will get as much advance notice as possible.

This is one of the core principles of Billy’s campaign: Transparency and public involvement.

Billy says the community has been asking for openness “𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘰𝘱𝘴,” and that on August 26, voters have the chance to make that change.
